Morocco 2008.

Tim and Deana spent six weeks driving Spain and Morocco in 2008 in their Toyota Landcruiser. Taking advantage of the Portsmouth to Bilbao ferry, the first stop was at the Gugenheim before heading south to Cordoba and Seville. Then, from the windswept coast of Tarifa, across to Tangiers before travelling to Fez, Erfoud and Merzouga for Christmas and New Year in the sand dunes.

Heading east to Essaouira on the coast, via Ouarzazate and Marrakesh, the journey provided a wonderful wilderness experience alongside many Dakar Rally vehicles. However, a terrorism incident in Maurtania led to the race being cancelled, a situation that caused great concern whilst planning the Skycar Expedition route the following year. The Dakar Rally has not be held on African soil since then.
