In 1996 Tim began working for an Overland Expedition Company as a tour leader. As a solo leader, driver and mechanic with a custom 18 tonne safari truck, he led groups of up to 24 tourists on six week camping expeditions from East Africa to South Africa and two week gorilla safari’s to the Uganda, DRC border. During this time Tim made frequent trips to the Masai Mara, Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Zanzibar, Lake Malawi, Limpopo River, Great Zimbabwe, Victoria Falls, Okavango and Kalahari.

In 1998, he flew back to London, collected a new truck and led an expedition from the UK to South Africa. The journey navigated through Europe, Turkey, Jordan and Syria, into Sinai and Egypt before following the Rift Valley south. The remote areas of Eritrea, Ethiopia and the Turkana region of Kenya were a particular highlight of the 6 ½ month expedition which covered 18 countries and 28,774 km.
